About
I am currently the Directory of Undergraduate Studies and Lecturer in the Program in Science, Technology, and Society at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2021-22 I was the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Women’s and Gender Studies at Wellesley College. From 2018-2020, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Intellectual Property and Food Security at the University of Queensland, Brisbane. I received a PhD from the Cultural Studies Graduate Group at the University of California, Davis, with designated emphases in Feminist Theory & Research, and Science & Technology Studies (STS) in 2018.
By looking at the material traces of plants found in gardens, art, and seed banks, I investigate the narratives of species and type specimens in historical and contemporary scientific research, to propose a re-envisioning of credit in the traditional forms of authority and credit in science. My broader work considers the IP issues around collecting seeds for preservation as intellectual property management.
